Day 01: Arrival and transfer to Thimphu

Upon arrival at Paro Airport, soak in the pristine mountain air and breathtaking landscapes. After completing customs and visa procedures, our guide will be waiting for you at the gate.

We’ll then drive for about an hour to Thimphu, the captivating capital of Bhutan, known for its charm and rich cultural heritage.

Our first stop is the awe-inspiring Buddha Dordenma, one of the world’s largest sitting Buddha statues at 169 feet (51.5 meters). Marvel at its tranquility and explore the meditation hall.

Next, immerse yourself in Bhutan’s artistic heritage at the Institute of Traditional Arts, where students master painting, sculpture, wood carving, weaving, and more.

Continue the journey with a visit to the Jungshi Paper Factory, where traditional techniques meet modern production to create beautiful handmade paper products.

As the day winds down, take a leisurely stroll along Thimphu’s main street. Explore handicraft shops, find unique treasures, and enjoy the warm hospitality at cozy cafes and bars.

Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing (Spectacular Views and Cultural Delights)

Experience Thimphu breath taking views and immerse yourself in its rich culture. Start with a scenic drive to Sangaygang for panoramic vistas. Hike to Wangditse Monastery, marvelling at Trashi Chhoe Dzong and the valley. Visit Dechen Phrodrang, an ancient monastery with historical artifacts.

Discover Zilukha Nunnery, engage with the nuns, and gain insights into Buddhism. At The National Post Office, create your personalized stamp adorned with your photo. Explore Pangrizampa College of Astrology, where astrology shapes important life decisions.

Unwind at the vibrant Centenary Farmers Market, savouring fresh produce. Browse Kuendeyling Bazaam for clothing and handicrafts. Complete your day at Kaja Thorm Farmer’s Market, enjoying captivating displays and delectable cuisine.

Day 03: Thimphu to Punakha

Depart from Thimphu after breakfast and make a stop at the Dochula pass, which offers stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain range. Admire the 108 chortens and visit the temple located on the pass.

Embark on a hike from Dochula to the Royal Botanical Park, descending along an ancient trail. Enjoy the pristine nature and discover the diverse flora, including 26 species of native rhododendrons.

Continue to Punakha and enjoy lunch at a restaurant in Chimi Lhakhang. After lunch drive to visit the tranquil Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup nunnery, a peaceful sanctuary dedicated to meditation and the training of Buddhist nuns. Immerse yourself in the serene atmosphere and appreciate the beauty of the surroundings.

Next, explore the Nalanda Buddhist Institute, where you can delve into the profound wisdom and teachings of Buddhism. Let the serenity and spiritual energy of Punakha deepen your connection to Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage. Interacting with the monks at Nalanda offers a glimpse into their disciplined lifestyle and meaningful conversations about Buddhism, spirituality, and inner peace.

Day 04: Punkha Culture Tour

Begin the day with an early hike, crossing the Mochu River and ascending switchbacks to reach Namgyel Khamsum Yuely Chorten. Enjoy panoramic views of the Mochu River Valley before descending through rice fields and villages, marveling at the picturesque scenery.


After the hike, return to Merengma Bistro & Bar for a delicious lunch. Our guide, driver, and restaurant staff will assist you in wearing traditional Bhutanese attire, immersing you in the local culture. Our guide will also give a talk about Bhutan’s National Games, providing insights into the country’s sporting traditions. Additionally, there will be a demonstration on how to use a bow and arrow, and you’ll have the opportunity to try hitting the target yourself. Afterward, we’ll drive to the suspension bridge for another exciting adventure.

The Punakha suspension bridge offers a thrilling experience as you walk across its swaying platform, providing stunning views of mountains and the Mo Chhu River. It’s a chance to immerse yourself in Bhutan’s natural beauty and adds excitement to your journey.

From the suspension bridge, a pleasant 10-15 minute walk will lead you to Punakha Dzong, a historic fortress and architectural masterpiece that is a must-visit in Bhutan. It served as the capital of Bhutan until the 1950s and holds significant historical importance. Notably, the grand wedding ceremony of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema took place here on 13 October 2011. Additionally, the first session of the Bhutanese Assembly convened at Punakha Dzong in 1953. Don’t forget to capture unforgettable photos in traditional Bhutanese attire during your visit to this remarkable Dzong.

Situated at a lower altitude, Punakha Valley enjoys a warmer climate, adding to its allure.

Day 05: Punakha – Paro

After breakfast, drive from Punakha to Paro, making a stop in Wangdue to explore Bajo Town. Visit the Lhawang Driden handmade Incense factory to witness traditional craftsmanship in incense production.

Continue to Rinchengang village, known as the “grateful village.” It was settled by masonry experts who built the Wangdue Phodrang Dzong. Marvel at the skilful masonry and enjoy a view of the Dzong.

After lunch, enjoy a scenic 4-hour drive back to Paro Valley. Pause to visit the historic Tamchog Bridge, built by Thangtong Gyalpo, a renowned figure in Bhutanese history. Take in the beauty of the surrounding fields and river, capture memorable photos, and appreciate the bridge’s historical significance. Then, resume your journey to Paro.

Take the opportunity to explore Paro town, known for its blend of traditional and modern architecture. Discover the central plaza with its prayer wheel and amphitheatre, hosting various events throughout the year.

Visit Ka Ja Throm, located near Ugyen Pelri Palace grounds, serving as a vibrant Farmer’s Market. Enjoy the lively atmosphere and browse through a variety of local produce. The market also features a children’s park and an open-air live-band stage, enhancing the community space.

Immerse yourself in the charm of Paro, relishing the unique blend of tradition and modernity while savoring the local offerings of the market.

Day 06: Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery) 4-5 hrs Hike

Embark on a thrilling hike to Taktsang, also known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The hike is approximately 5 hours’ round trip and offers breath taking views. After an hour of hiking, you’ll reach the cafeteria, which provides a stunning view of the monastery. It takes another hour to reach the main temple, perched on a cliff face 900 meters above the Paro Valley. This sacred site has a fascinating history, as Guru Rinpoche meditated here in the 7th century. Experience the mystical atmosphere and marvel at the monastery’s architecture.

Please note that the hike is challenging but rewarding, and if desired, pony transport is available for the ascent at an additional cost of US$20 per horse. After the hike, visit a traditional farmhouse in Paro to get a glimpse of the farmers’ lifestyle. Additionally, indulge in a unique hot stone bath, renowned for its medicinal properties and therapeutic benefits. This ancient technique helps alleviate body aches and joint pain, providing a relaxing experience. The cost for the hot stone bath is US$20 per person.

Day 07: Departure

After breakfast at the hotel, our guide will accompany you to the airport for your onward flight. Bid farewell to the legendary Dragon Kingdom of Bhutan as you depart, with memories of its remote beauty and guardian mountains lingering in your mind.
