Bumdra Trek is One of the short and beautiful treks in Bhutan, boasting scenic and historical legacies adventuring in stunning landscaped, spectacular views of Himalayan ranges and visiting the most revered pilgrimage sites in Bhutan.

Bumdra means – Rock of one hundred thousand footprints. The legends say that a hundred thousand Dakinis (Celestial female beings) descend here and left their footprints on the rock way back to 800years ago. Explore numerous sacred, holy caves of angels and Tiger’s Nest monastery on your journey.

Day 1 Sangchhokor – Bumdrak

Distance: 20-30 drives, 7k hike, 3-4hours hike, Camp Altitude: 3500m

Begin your day by driving 20- 30 minutes to Sangchhokor monastery to start your hike. Then, ascend uphill on your pace, enjoying the spectacular view of Paro and Do chhu valley along with colorful prayer flags. Continuing your Trek uphill offers you amazing views of Himalayan ranges and meadows adorned with prayer flags and enjoy the sweeping views of landscapes surround the campsite and the holy place.

Day 2 Bumdrak -Tiger’s Nest Monastery – Paro

Distances: 15k Duration: 5-6 hours

Enjoy the beautiful sunrise in the morning. After your breakfast:

  1. Descend to Tiger’s Nest monastery experiencing the lovely walk through the Rhododendron forest and essential sites of Guru Rinpoche (Zangdopelri).
  2. Make a stop at the bird’s eye view before reaching Tiger’s Nest monastery.
  3. Spend some time at the monastery and climb down through beautiful pine trees until you to the base of the sanctuary.
