The Monastery has recently been listed as one of the ten holiest places on Earth. Guru Rinpoche spent four months meditating in a cave at Taktsang taming and subjugating the eight classes of malicious spirits. He concealed many profound treasures at Taktsang. The monastery is precariously perched on the side of a sheer cliff above the floor of the valley appearing ethereal and timeless.
